“Gurus”

Funny story…

When I start doing internet marketing, I was told the thing to do was a tripwire offer or a small offering of $7-$37 which got people in the door, and then you could sell them a bigger offer.

Then, I was told that’s the stupidest thing to do, and what you wanted to do was a webinar where you could sell them a BIG offering.

Now, I’m told that the thing to do is “micro offers” which are $7-$37 products that can generate sales for you and pay for your funnel.

It’s the same thing, just repackaged for a new cycle of emerging entrepreneurs.

This is proof that people have no idea what they are talking about, and that everything goes in cycles.

I’ve lived through a half dozen “emails are dead/emails are king” cycles, more than a dozen “live video is the future/podcasts are the future” cycles.

A hundred or so “be on every platform/dominate one platform” cycles.

The only thing I know for sure is this: It’s all hard, and nobody knows the secret formula. They all have a piece, and you have to know what piece works for you, but every process requires personalization and manipulation by you before it works.

The best advice is probably the things that have been working for generations, and have stood the test of time.

The only thing I know NOT to do is chase every fad hoping for a silver bullet because there isn’t one. Switching your process every couple of days is probably what’s killing your business in the first place. The best traction comes with time.

The thing is…all strategies can lead to success. They all work, at least partially, even if you have to supplement them, and most creators jump ship on a strategy way too early. That said, the best course of action is to find a “guru” you resonate with, follow them, implement what they say, buy their courses, and cross your fingers that they will lead you to success.

If not, then reassess and try again.
