Practice will save you

When you’re too tired to think and too upset to move, the one thing that will save you is the practice that you put into your work.

The more you have trained yourself to work in every situation, the better you will be able to weather any storm. Often, in my life, it has only been the constant practice that has kept me going.

It allowed me to move on and keep going forward after my dad’s death, in the throes of depression, in the heights of anxiety, and in every bad situation.

Those habits I formed in the best times saved me in the worst times.

Will it always work?

No, sometimes I feel so horrible that I can’t even more, but most of the time, I can keep going on muscle memory alone.

The practice doesn’t seem worth it until it is needed. Then, it is everything. It’s not easy to get there, but it’s easy to start. Then, you just have to take it one day at a time.

Studies show it takes at least 66 days to build a habit, but, eventually, it will become a habit, and then it becomes easier. It’s never easy, but it does become easier.
