Marketing won’t save a subpar product

All the slick marketing in the world can’t save a subpar product.

Yeah, it can give it a little boost at first, but there’s nothing you can do for something that’s not great once somebody tries it.

You can fool people once, but it’s really hard to fool them a second time.

By contrast, if your product is truly amazing, then you should be trying to get as many people to see it as possible because they will buy your work in droves, love it, and more importantly, come back again.

It’s much easier to survive with a great product that has good buzz but little marketing behind it than the reverse.

However, most people think that marketing will save them. In truth, unless you have something truly exceptional, then it’s not going to do anything but give you a little spike and then crash soon after.

That is why the first part of Sell Your Soul is about making something great because if you can’t do that, you have nothing.

Once you have that, the rest of the world unlocks for you.
